The Place of Power & Peace Rapa Nui (Easter Island)

Rapa Nui, the indigenous name of Easter Island, is one of the world's most important places of power and peace. It is the most remote inhabited island on the planet, lying in the middle of the Pacific and 3,700 kilometres from the coast of continental Chile. Yet it was settled by Ancient Polynesian settlers who created monumental sculptures, shrines and enormous stone figures known as moai. Easter Islanders say the statues walked. The legends and the fascinating cultural landscapes draw and fascinate people from around the world.
