Best Beachfront Restaurants in Ocho Rios

Ocho Rios is Spanish for 'eight rivers' and is a Jamaican town in the parish of Saint Ann on the north coast. It is a popular holiday destination with attractions such as Columbus Park, maritime artifacts and Spanish colonial buildings. It is said that it is the first place that Christopher Columbus supposedly came to land. As such, the place has an active dining scene with select beach front eateries such as the ones listed below.

1. Bamboo Beach Club

This is an all-round kind of an eatery. It features some of the best Caribbean cuisines and wines as well as Jamaican dancers, reggae drummers, singers and acrobats. If you are pining for Caribbean entertainment, you cannot have it better than in the Bamboo Beach Club.

2. Toscanini

This restaurant is mostly graced by the high and mighty in the Jamaican society. It is not uncommon to find politicians, musicians, Sportsmen and intellectuals taking their lunch as they discuss the state of the nation. We all know that well-heeled people are served the best dishes...so why not follow them to the restaurant?

3. Evita's Italian Restaurant

Since 1860's, Evitas has served the hungry travellers and Jamaicans with the best seafood you can find anywhere in the world. It overlooks the cruise ship port of Ocho Rios and is a favorite wedding destination among the Jamaicans.

4. Under the Stairs

This is a beach front restaurant that has its guests going for more of Jerk Pork Pretzel sandwich and a second view of downtown Ocho Rios. If you tasted the sandwich too, trust me; you would also go back to the restaurant.

5. Mammee Bay beach restaurant and Grill Steakhouse

This is part of the larger Clubhotel Riu Ocho Rios. Being part of a larger resort is definitely a plus for this restaurant, but what really sets it apart from the crowd is the beautiful beach and the tasty steaks served at the restaurant.

Ocho Rios is a major holiday travel hub in the Caribbean. It is also home to some of the best restaurants you can find in the Caribbean and thus a gourmet diner will have found a home if he happens to be in Ocho Rios.
