Patagonia Wildlife Adventure
Discover the wonders that Darwin saw on his journey to Patagonia in Southern Chile with Ciclismo Classico.
Join renowned South American photographer and nature documentary filmmaker Ossian Lindholm in this idyllic blend of nature, culture and wildlife and discover the wonders that captivated Darwin on his Patagonian sojourn at the bottom of the earth. Here lies a dazzling world of calving glaciers, rushing waterfalls, and towering peaks rising from blue green seas, and remote, mist-shrouded islands. By boat, foot, and vehicle, we explore the hidden corners of Chiloe Island, home to a fiercely independent, sea-faring people. The island boasts a unique flavor from the mainland– from its renowned food to its stilted wooden architecture. Wet and windswept, with lush hills and an early morning fog that cloaks, perhaps it is no wonder that the people here have a distinctive spiritual mythology of witchcraft, ghost ships, and forest gnomes. Discover wild and remote national parks, home to Humboldt and Magellan penguins, endangered pudu, and sea otter. Visit villages, the market, and traditional wooden churches and homes.
You will be a part of an important conservation effort by the Audubon Society and The Nature Conservancy, who along with local partners, are involved in initiatives to spread awareness about the importance of coastal wetland habitats to migratory shorebirds and ensure that Hudsonian godwits and Whimbrels have a safe and sustainable wintering place for years to come.
Continue south to spectacular Torres del Paine National Park, the 8th Wonder of the World. Snowcapped mountain peaks, cascading rivers and waterfalls, glaciers and mirrored lakes: in all respects Torres del Paine deserves its reputation. This time of year the sun sets around 11pm, and each day we follow in the footsteps of Patagonia’s most elusive animals, including the enigmatic Andean puma and endangered South Andean deer. Discover and photograph park’s spectacular sunrises and sunsets, and native flora and fauna. During 5 days see some of the world’s most classic trekking routes encompassing ancient forests, glaciers, lakes, rivers and fjords, and fauna including guanacos, flamingos, condors, foxes, and of course pumas!
The experience of nature photography with Ossian will deeply move and inspire you and set the mood of quiet and mindful observation, which is crucial to understanding animal behavior. Savor special moments along the way, as we taste oysters paired with wine on a beach, dine on superb local food, and explore by riverboats on foot, and by vehicle. Throughout, we visit sites during ideal lighting conditions, which is helpful while gaining insights on your photography with our Ossian, or just for quiet contemplation.
